Mana Coco consists of coconut coir pressed into bricks. The bricks are easily fluffed by adding water. Coco Coir is growing in popularity as an alternative to sphagnum peat moss and other potting mixes because it’s renewable, being a byproduct of the coconut food industry. Each coconut tree produces 50-200 coconuts annually. The natural structure of the coco husk holds up to eight times it’s weight in water. Because coconut is fibrous, it drains well and resists compaction. This high quality Coco Coir is known to have a PH balance averaging from 5.8 to 6.8. Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium are naturally occurring in coco coir, which are all essential nutrients for seedling growth. Coir is very popular in hydroponic farming (soilless), being the perfect medium for adding specific nutrients at each stage of plant growth. Mana’s Coco Coir is sustainably harvested in India and is hydrated and rinsed thoroughly to decrease sodium content.
